What is Future Beats/Bass

Future Beats is a genre style that was born from Garage while combining Boom Bap styles of Hip-Hop. It usually consists of half time beats and snares on the 2 and 4, but this isn't always the case. The bass is usually a funky groove mixed with 808s or the tune builds to an anticlimactic/reserved drop. Now, Future Beats and Future Trap can be somewhat similar at times, however snare and/or hi hat rolls don't instantly make a tune Trap so keep that in mind.

Basically, the musicians in this movement are stringing a collage of Jazz/Funk melodies over 90's style rap beats or garage beats. There's usually a prominent overall Funk feel though and this is achieved in four ways:

>Melodies are somewhat repetitive and created using wide and expressive synths. A lot of typical future leads remind me of DX7 synth sounds.

Eg.

>Samples/effects are spacey, repetitive and entrancing. This is a technique old Funk artists would use to help set up the vibe/atmosphere.

Eg.

>The Bassline usually embodies a Funky groove using a mixture of sustained and varied bass hits and/or 808s.

Eg.

>Live or computer simulated instrumentation.

Eg.

It's important to understand Future Beats won't always evoke this Funk influence in all four ways, but a good majority of the tunes you'll find here implement atleast one of the four.

Here are some random extra examples of cookie cutter Future Beats:

EDIT: this is all just the basics and it's meant to be kinda broad, but if you want more detail feel free to delve into the comments below.

@Vorq Keep up the good work around here man. Someones got to apparently. I'm still fresh and wasn't around for the good ol days here, but from what I can see you're one of the handful of people left that strive to keep that pulse.:ganja4:

arite.. I'll be the first to say: This section should be a subgenre listed under 'trap' not garage. The songs listed here and the ones people are looking for are the ones with the huge synths and the hip hop tempo

well under this premise then i would say most of the songs uploaded in this section are 'future trap' indeed. also just in general, i hardly ever see future beats refer to a slower club tempo (i.e. snakehips..)

@Sertin Deth No you're not understanding. You gotta look up Boom Bap Hip Hop styles on wiki or something to better familiarize yourself with the sound this genre was born from. 90's Hip Hop percs + Funk leads, with or without snare/hi hat rolls, is a Future Beat that belongs in this section, to put it as simply as possible. Right now, everything here is in the right place based on my updated description. I think you might be having trouble with some of the tunes where the bassline is primarily an 808. Like I said in the description though, If an artist uses hard hitting bass to convey a primarily funk melody, it's still a Future Beat and not Trap at that point. It's such a unique sound and I don't expect everyone to be good at delineating what's a Future Beat and what isn't, so just post where you feel like tunes are supposed to go and the mods will move things if need be.

i'm not one for internet arguments, but the phrase 'you're not understanding' is a good way to get into one. 90's hip hop percs and funk leads? so you're calling to mention A Tribe Called Quest or Black Sheep or early Herbie Hancock... using the subject '90's' to categorize any type of song pattern is exorbitantly broad and is an invitation for disagreement in itself. and what are you referring to as 90's perc? the 'woo, yea' sample that has been used in almost 2000 songs or like a slow-paced amen break? i'm simply mentioning that the way 'future' has come to be understood as genre in modern music is a prominent synth melody with vocal samples and a hip hop syncopated beat. listen to much of the tunes posted in this subsection and their tempo, and tell me i'm wrong.

i'll attach the WIKI PAGE, just in case you need a reference
