Under92 Posted October 17, 2011 Share Posted October 17, 2011 dont convert between lossy formats. the only formats you could convert to from this and not lose more than has already been is .flac and .wav, and that would just be a waste of space are you really still arguing about that? AAC (being .m4a) and .mp3 are both lossy formats. AAC sounds similar or better than .mp3 at lower bitrate. so that equals that an .mp3 can sound exactly like an .m4a-file, but with a higher filesize and bitrate. so indeed 256kbit .m4a is 320kbit .mp3. i guess everyone, who really uses .m4a files does it because of iTunes and his/her iPod. most players work just fine with .mp3. so speaking for myself, i would convert it to mp3. so please stop this discussion now. check: http://www.diffen.com/difference/AAC_vs_MP3 Link to comment
