140bpm can NEVER be drumstep.

To put it simply: Drumstep is a blanket term for all half-time bass music ranging from 160 to 180 bpm and it's as simple as that. The general consensus has been the same for about 3 years now, if you see things differently then you're wrong according to the people who matter i.e. producers, DJs...

Drumstep can sound like anything from this, to this, to this, as well as the tunes Ceph Attack mentioned, although each and every one of his posts in this thread has been full of misinformed bullshit. Like seriously, infinity facepalms dude.

Maybe you could use your head a little bit? You listen to lots of Dubstep, yeah? You never notice how the majority of Dubstep tunes, being 140bpm, often drop on the 17th measure which occurs at 0:55 seconds if the first beat is at 0:00? That's usually a dead give away if you for some reason aren't able to tell by just tapping your foot to the beat...
