gordo6987
that smooth slightly wet fizzly bass goin on in this jayglo song haunts me in my dreams and i can sort of get close but it's no where near as full as jayglo's, how does he do it? i use ableton btw. Link to comment
Mephistopheles
I have no idea, but it sounds like a square-pulse fundamental waveform, and my guess it is made fuller with a lower detuned tri-saw or something for the crunch. The rest is pretty much guesswork. I'd say a decent amount of ring modulation and a perfectly adjusted low pass filter. And of course creating layers, like some layer of pink noise filtered for extra harmonics, and some pure sine sub beneath it. whatever suits =D. How did you get close to the sound? Link to comment
gordo6987
cool thanks. i used operator, turned on 3 oscilaters, two are saw D's and one is a sine, on one of the saw d's i bumped the coarse to 1, the other oscilators coarse are at 0.5, and i turned the level down to 12 o clock on both saw's, then turned the filter on and bumped the freq down to 153 and left the res as is, then i went into the time section and made it so it's using the algorithm all the way to the right, then threw a sausage fattener on it for good measure. i hope some of that made sense. Mephistopheles
sounds about right, although I don't know what sausage fattner actually does. What does it do? compress and bitcrush at the same time? Link to comment
gordo6987
i think it saturates and something else, but the best way i can explain it is that it makes everything fat like sausage. Link to comment
