hahahaha, its funny digital tunes converts there lame to joint stereo, stereo is the more correct choice

Makes no difference whether it's in Joint Stereo or Stereo. Especially at the higher bitrates. It actually improves quality at lower bitrates. Just google it my friend.

Anyway, back on topic. NUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTS track! Thanks to the OP!

beatport converts it to just stereo right?

itunes, beatport, juno, and most others, joint stereo is essentially double mono, not the same as proper stereo, look at songs in audacity and you will notice the difference on the 2 channels, unlike this one, fail (also half the songs on the site unfortunately)

I'm sorry, but stereo is double mono already. Whether it's joint or not. Joint stereo is a mathematic way for an audio codec to detect the same sounds from both the left and right channels to improve the quality of a track a lower bitrates by encoding them as one channel. The mathematics can push this back out as a stereo image.

That's the way it shows on audacity because it's designed to cut down on the split image of left and right. Makes no impact to the stereo sound or quality. (buble)

i dont know what your talking about but stereo is different from joint stereo, here is an image of the first track i even pulled into audacity to look at to prove my theory, you can notice clear differences, track is blow my mind brown and gammon straight from juno for those that care.

and for those that wanna learn about the differences between stereo and joint stereo this article sums it up pretty well http://www.richardfarrar.com/what-is-joint-stereo/

Joint stereo is the same as stereo, but the codec decides when to code it as more towards mono+decoding info when the two channels are pretty much the same.

It doesn't restrict/narrow/limit the stereo image, it's just mathematical way to save data. Much more so at the lower bitrates (e.g. 128kbps MP3 which was popular in dial-up/early broadband).

Joint stereo means nothing at the higher bitrates as it can cater for much more data.

Save the baby explanations on that page. These guys know what they talk about.
