Hi Ramlapa here.

im a beginner dj, i just would like to know what skrillex uses? For his live sets and everything. Because i really havent found out yet.

Thanks!

Hey!

IN MY OPINION it's variable. Normally DJs are using the place's gear where they are and at home they have anotha. Personally I dont like skrillex so dunno what he has at home.

if you ever become a famous DJ, please don't model your live shows on skrillex. saw him at global gathering and what he does can't even be called Djing, he just pressed play then let the track finish, then yelled into the mic for a bit and pressed play on the next one...

for his setup, read http://www.beatportal.com/feed/item/introducing-skrillex/

his live rig is "Ableton Live and an M-Audio Trigger Finger."

I saw him in Richmond VA not a couple weeks ago on his Mothership tour. He definitively knew what he was doing, mixing was on point, and definitively not just pressing play button as people say he does.

Reasoning, my best guess is that when he first started producing and got big, he didn't practice with dj'ing his stuff or dj'ing for that matter, ended doing live shows anyways while still in the learning process.

Seeing him now vs. then i bet you could say he has come a LONG way. DJ wise..

I'd say look up some pics of his shows, then take a peak at the equipment, and see what he has

hey -Ramlapa

is there any particular reason why you would like to know what he use;s is it that you would like a simular setup ?

im in the same boat atm , im already an established DJ but im just looking for a sweet live setup ,, ableton is realy cool but id say u will need atleast an apc40 to run it ,,

other wise if your like me and have a ni maschine , im using traktor pro 2 + maschine + 2 technics turnies and 2 ni kontrol x1's it seams like alot but its realy not that cool to be a lazy dj ,,

peace

pretty sure skrilly uses CDJs and a pioneer nexus like most big names do these days, but if he's running ableton i wouldn't be surprised being as he produces w/ it ... his live set has gone from 3/10 to about a 7-8/10 in the last year or two though, he got way better i give him that - but if that's your style of tunes and you want to mogle yourself after a big DJ check out a 12th planet set - i saw him last night, and just when i thought i was getting good as a DJ he put me RIGHT into my place! lol
