@ Xplosiv Yeah I know, that there is an overload of tutorials out there, and I know its a bitch to guide through them. And tutorials are important, dont get me wrong, but you also learn by trial and error,  and I like exploring with the features that Ableton has to offer, but also just to get to know the program.

And be patient most musicians don't become good over night. Set your self goals that are achievable, its way to easy to set your expectations to high when you are just starting out. So I like to rather try and set small goals, that are achievable instead of thinking that Im gonna go for Beatport Top 100.

Also try to work with others, and just network, you can learn so much stuff from seeing how other work, and how their workflow is.

Here are some good tutorials, to get starting.

To he completely honesty: that's the thing man. The practice practice practice and just messing around is what's missing. Allowing yourself to not sound like the big artist. Not after a day or a week or even after years. Just have fun.

In my head it's just: aaaw this sounds like shit... Quit

@ Xplosiv as a kid I went to Musical School, so it's kind of always been my hobby. I started with FL 2 or FL 3 version and someone got me a Reason 3 I think, at that time... that was fun time, I did not have to play and record on a MC lol

I agree with @ K I M M Y , if your goal is making it big... then it's a rocky road, and a lot of time needs to be invested in only learning the basics.

But if it is for fun, then you are bound to those moments "sounds like shit" lol... don't get me wrong, I have more than 15k projects and most of them were hours of time wasted in clicking here and there, and learning something new... and yea, most of them sound like shit but I had fun while I made those... most of the sounds were created like that, and a lot of sort of mastering the mix moments :drinks:

For example, this is my latest where I am trying 85BPM and layering some kicks and snares:

It's a "practice" project.

EDIT: Also, Solfège is your best friend... :dirol:

@ Xplosiv then you can start from here

And also, I know it is a FL but it's a solid explanation:

Or a example for Ableton:

I would suggest looking for a Ableton scales project. You can basically select the scale You want, and map your chord or melody progression from that point on.
