Hey guys I got directed to here, just started producing a few days ago, and thought I'd share my first ever attempt on logic. Pretty basic house tune, and I know its nowhere near mastered but I'm still relatively happy as I only got logic on Wednesday. Early days but any feedback is welcome :)

Peace

@SoundsoftheGhost

Alright, first thing I would do is change the start. I would suggest putting down a basic drum pattern and adding stuff to it like percussion / snares / synths (you can use what you already have in that song since thats all fine). What happens now is I'm listening to the same synth repeating over and over for 1 minute long which kind of takes away the feeling it's supposed to have in the climax and it get a bit boring.

Second thing: I'm not completly sure but the synth that comes through it (sounds a bit more like a saw wave) might be a little bit too detuned.

Third: try making it less repetitive. Instead of making a full 4 minutes song put more effort in making one part awesome (for instance a good buildup leading to a drop / climax) and practice with that (saves some time copying patterns and stuff since you won't be doing anything with these songs yet).

Fourth: Try to get your drums through a bit more. If you don't know how to do that look up sidechaining / compression and Equalizing. For EQ I would suggest removing the frequencies under a 100 hz at least since that might intervere with any layer of subbass you might have and increasing it around 2000 hz zone (just listen to what you might find good) to add a bit more 'tok' to in (the same goes for the snare thats around the same eqing). Now what sidechaining does is that it decreases the sound you put it on when another sound (in this case your synth decreasing in volume when your kick comes in) so that you can hear it 'better' and it cuts through your mix.

Now this sounds like a lot of criticizing but I'm only doing this since for what I hear you already know the basics quite well and honestly sounds a lot better then my first tune.

As for the buildup and what I was talking about:

This is an electro tune I made a while back (mixdown here is differently as I do now, less good I would say. There was still a limiter on the master (stupid haha) and I used different Fx to EQ and compress.)

Hope this is of any help.

Good luck!

@zdubs: I actually saw that track on soundcloud a little while back after you posted it. But really like the melody and good atmosphere in it. Like that little sidechainy effect you have in the climax. Would maybe change it up a little bit more melody wise in the climax. After a while it does get a bit repetitive. Maybe add some sounds in the second part of the climax (like the really really last part with the 'saw' synth climax, not the first 4 patterns with the saw since that part changes the dynamic of the song anyway going from melodic to harder). Or you could play with the synth a little add some cool effects, different wave-pattern etc.

@Techna Daamn son what a dope mix.. Completely different vibe from the last one, this blew me away! So nice and clean, great stuff

@Lunatik Man do you ever get time to sleep? haha this one's sick dude. Love that bassline, you could possibly glitch it out a bit more in parts if you were that way inclined, could sound cool. Very cool stuff.

Just wanna know what you guys think of what I've done with this one... still working on it

@Lunatick , Thanks man I don't at all feel like you're criticising so no worries, if anything it's constructive. I'll have a think on what you've said and start looking at sidechaining and compression, it's still really early days but I'm just trying to work on structure. A lot of the time I find myself building and building, ending up with what in my opinion is just another REALLY boring progressive tune, so I'm trying to work on distinguishing between the buildup and the drop. I'm working on another tune at the moment which I'll drop this way when I've gotten a bit more into it, and maybe I'll have a tweak with this one and put it here when I've improved it.

Thanks for your help man.

damn soooonnnnn ! dat bassline ! it me reminds me a lot of Funtcases Stuff ! keep it up - you just need to balance out the mastering and mid frequencies a bit (it sounds a little over the place to be honest) but if you manage it to get it cleaner sounding , its a smasher for real ! hit me up with it when your done really liking it :)

i got a new clip too , its gonna be the Fourth Track of my EP - Trap is New Land for me. But i think its worth a try :D The bassline is not layered ! The Mid layer is still missing but i get on that when i have time tomorrow :)

tell me what ya think , its a collab with a good friend of mine!

Thanks alot man, I really appreciate that. I'm in the process of trying to clean up my production.. Hoping it will come in time.

Hot damn, that is absolute fire! Good to hear you branching out, if you enjoy making it, why not I say. Not to sound like too much of a kiss ass but I think there is nothing you can't do haha

Not even sure what to say about this. Jesus fucking christ that's a tune! Big stuff man, i can't find any issues.

and @yojap. Sick track dude, definitely feeling the huge funty bass! Treble seems a bittt harsh at some points.

I know i'm pretty much the odd-man out with all my house music lmao, but here's a progressive track I've been working on... (only a limiter on the master thus far. DO plan on adding some vocals:D)
