What do you call this type of sound?

Teknizion

I'm getting into producing and I just can't figure out how this particular sound is called.

In this track skip to 00:30, an ambient background sound comes in and stays there untill 01:30.

It's used for building up but I can't figure out what its called and what to look for (samples/tutorial wise)

Anyone who can help me out?

@Teknizion its a sidechained & high-pitched string sample, its very common in house for builds and general background layering. try Nexus, it has decent string presets, tho if your cpu can handle it, get KONTAKT for the best results.

Yeah exactly this. Just give it a nice tail shape too. Meaning just slightly increasing in volume over time. And no need for heavy synths really enough sample packs out there that have this sound. Just modulate it in that tail shape and smack some sidechain on it. You can really nail this type of sound in just a few attempts. I'll Illustrate the modulation in FL really quick.
