The Infamous EDC 2010 - Los Angeles Colosseum

My second rave that I went to during my young drug hazed college days. The first was a really small show with ATB and Infected Mushroom w/ Matisyahu (yea really weird combination of artists but it was cool). After having such a great impression and experience from the rave scene I wanted to continue going to more and more raves and came across one of , if not, the biggest rave promoters at the time Insomniac Events and still is.

I will never forget those two days. From crazy come ups that I've had such as befriending a bunch of new people, to getting free pills, to getting a nice massage from the ladies and getting awesome light shows to shitty outcomes like losing my phone, wallet, t-shirt, and the rest of my pills along with my second ticket for the next day entrance. Thankfully one of my friends decided not to go to the second day so I grabbed instantly. The scenery of hundreds of people trying to climb a wire fence to get to the main stage was surreal and many people got hurt in the process. Some face planted as they tried to shimmy their way down the fence, some went through the misfortune getting stampeded by the mob, and others landsng directly on top of people which I'm sure resulted in plenty of broken bones or concussions. It was kinda funny but sad at the same time. The lengths people are willing to go when they are trippin out on substances. The second day opened my eyes to a sadder truth. Once I got through the security and into the front of the venue, the first thing I see is a kid who looks like hes 15-16 taken away on a stretcher and throughout the day I saw more similar incidents. Couldn't help but to notice that there seemed to be a bunch of minors and it made me feel unsettled.

The aftermath of the rave led to the ban of EDC in Los Angeles as ,if I'm not mistaken, a 16 yr old girl died of overdose made headlines along with the numerous amount of complaints from the locals about the noise and trash everywhere. Insomniac made drastic changes in how they operate such as the age limit and moving venues to more remote locations. Over the next roughly 2 years I would still go to Insomniac events and as time progressed I started to get over the scene and the type of music that was being promoted. I don't think I will ever go to a huge rave again. A smaller show? Sure that sounds fun.

Any of you guys go to that EDC or any Insomniac events? Best rooms were the dubstep/drum&bass ones that weren't the main headlining rooms. I could be in there all day, lose track of time, and be content with life.

Pfft, fuck usa's news outlets.

She didn't overdose. She died of dehydration. BIG DIFFERENCE.

Nope, didn't go to 2010's EDC

I love insomniac events, I stand firmly by them. I am actually planning a Tour of the Insomniac, where I will go the different events held throughout the year across the usa

Was supposed to go to EDC 2020, but it looks like it will be cancelled..

2021 is gonna be fucking insane for festivals!!

You should come to one of them too! Make new and better memories!

yeah i think so too. died of dehydration. common for ppl who popped too much. my favorite insomniac was Audiotistic but that was the one i believe that was cancelled. always wanted to go to Hard Fest but that was the most expensive one for sure and strangely at the smaller venues. Beyond Wonderland was alright, more trance/house inspired while audiotistic was more bass heavy dnb, dubstep, bit of hiphop

looked further into this. based on my deduction she was brought into the hospital either on the 26th or 27th of june 2010 (friday)/(saturday) then died on tuesday on the 29th. so 3-4 days later.

  • Sasha had ecstasy in her system when she was brought to the hospital, doctors told the girl's parents. "A 16-year old friend who was with Sasha at the rave said Sasha was dancing, got hot and began quickly drinking cold water," which actually shocked her body, since the ecstasy had compromised her body's ability to replace her depleted sodium and electrolytes efficiently. The teen collapsed and hit her head on the ground, say friends, adding that despite trying to shield Sasha's body, "the venue was so crowded, people stepped on them."

the parents had to decide whether to pull her off on keep her on life support. dehydrated to losing consciousness to getting stomped then ultimately pulled the plug

@Ganjastep How do you die of dehydration in a timespan of 2 days? If she died, it was cuz of drugs.

The same way a construction worker can die in 1 day from dehydration.

Listen, here is some information for you:

  • The human body can withstand between 20 - 30 GRAMS of MDMA before the system begins failing due to the "drug"
  • Like all uppers (that can be found all over the world) MDMA speeds up the system and all of it's functions, so it is important to remain hydrated during such adventures.

See?

MDMA was just an agitator, not the perpetrator.

The fact is she was sending it way too fucking hard, and didn't take care of herself properly for longer than just Tuesday the 29th. The fact of the matter is you do not receive damage to your body to the extent she did from just one day. In order for Sodium and Electrolyte Deficiency to rear it's ugly head is if you have had a prolonged amount of time for such levels to get dangerously low. Like I said, MDMA is not the villain here, poor body care is. This whole situation was 100000% avoidable if she would have taken care of herself properly.

Now the stampede part is fucking sad, although I have a hard time believing that part entirely.

On an upside, since 2010 the scene (even the metal scene) has radically revamped their cultural etiquette and now most people are immediately helped if they fall to the ground. Often safety circles are created around the fallen individual so that harm does not come to them. The fact is that it is a horrific tragedy if someone within our community is harmed because of this...

It really makes me smile whenever I see complete strangers helping out someone who fell!

If you have never seen or experienced the fucking warmth and love that radiates from the people helping another person who fell, just to make sure that person or you are OK, then you are missing something beautiful in life!

So your choices are either Audiotistic or Hard Summer?

that's easily done.

shit... I wonder how many cllvers would come! :ganja3:

a CllV Takeover of the Insomniac events! could you imagine?? be dank af

Yeah I was at that EDC and have been to a ton of Insomniac events.  Lived the vast majority of my life in California and it's kind of hard to avoid Insomniac events in the LA area.  They practically have a monopoly on big festival type shows like that.  It left a really bad taste in my mouth when they banned gloves though.
