EDMNG
I have had an HP Beats edition laptop for under a year. Its running an Intel i5 processor @2.50/6 GB Ram/750GB HD. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B008472LNK I was recently in the middle of a session when Traktor Pro crashed on me. I don't have any viruses at the moment and was not running any other programs when the crash happened. Thank god I was not playing in front of a crowd. With that being said, I think its time to switch to Mac. My financial situation at the moment is not that great. I am working security at an electronic music club and going to school full time. I can only afford $700 so I am looking at older model used macbook pros. I have found a few through craigslist and ebay but I mainly have some questions for you guys. here they are: 1. will a 2.26 GHz Intel Core Duo P8400 45nm Penryn 64BIT suffice for DJ'ing software and basic FL studio/producing? 2. If I buy a macbook pro and it doesnt come with the install/restore CD, will it still work? 3 is a mid 2009 model macbook pro too outdated? I will keep you guys updated with the current negotiations that I am in and what for. Thanks in advance fellas Link to comment

Yes. sadly FL studio isn't supported on Mac, so you'll have to go with Ableton or Logic or Cubase or whatever else you want unless you put in some time to get BootCamp/Crossover/Other parallel to get FL to work on your mac, which is a dope option that I am looking into myself for my mac. But back to the point, yes. I have Traktor Pro 2 with a 2.6 processor and I've had no issues and I use Live 9 and have had no issues. 2. Yes. My buddy got a used macbook a while back and it didn't come with the restore disk. But with a little research and some help from a guy at my towns knock-off Apple Store "The Mac Shack", we had it up and working in like 15 minutes. You will need a physical copy of the operating you want (Lion, Snow Leopard, etc.) to put on the computer. 3. No. It may look a little older, but it's still far better than the large majority of PC's. Outdated-ness is the least of your worries if it's from '09. Hope this helps!
