Producers Block?

General question about producing, because it seems to be a huge problem for me at the moment and wanted to get yall's opinion and input.

What do you do when you have producers block, and you can't think of shit to do?

@Guilty Spark I have a bit of a weird way of dealing with that, but hopefully it helps anyway.
Most of the time I HAVE TO stay away from the project I've been cockblocked on, or trying to create a new one for couple of hours after I realise its not working.
For that "no-producing" period, I tend to listen to music in the genre I've been producing AND to genres I don't usually listen to. Then I strip those songs down to their basic elements: chords, structure, rhythm etc. Once I've done that, I ask myself the very simple questions: "how would I use those elements and turn them into my own thing without copy-pasting?" & "If I was writing this song, what would I change and add in it?" When you find a song that just clicks with you, before you know it you'll be having ideas for drum structure, chord progressions and so on.
If that doesn't work, whilst staying away from producing, here's a couple of already established tips: go out for a walk, watch a movie (I highly reccommend "Drive"), have a existential talk with a friend, read books/articles that you're fond of, roll a blunt.
P.S: NEVER FORCE MUSIC (or any artform for that matter). Its a downwards spiral once u do. Patience is ALWAYS the golden rule.

Very good suggestions, I'll need to try those. I also think I need to get back into remixing as well, because I've noticed in the past that some of my better ideas have come from when I was remixing another track...weird...

Not really weird tbh, cause you've already got something to build from. Basics is always where its at my friend. :)

I try various things.

Sometimes I pick a favorite song from back in the day and try to see if I can come up with something new with it.

Other times I just use one sound and fuck it up hella...then use that as some sort of groove track.

Other times, I just start with a beat.

Out of curiosity; do you find yourself getting stuck at specific spots more often than not?

To answer your question at the end, yes...mainly with arrangement...
