Laptop Recommendations?

Google "Hackintosh compatible laptop" Get one with specs/price that suits you" Dualboot windows/mac. If you're dependant on some macintosh software.

I'd reccomend you the Lenovo IdeaPad U430, one of the best laptops I've used, great specs and has a touch screen, the built in camera (for skype sessions) is also good.

It's also Hackintosh compatible.

laptops.. what a serious waste of money (and scam).

If it wasn't for a work/producing purpose (so for people who moves constantly) I would absolutely never recommand ANY laptop.

Spoken like a true gamer who only knows how to compare Alienware laptops to their watercooled battlestation.

Would definitely recommend building a desktop then. Don't waste money on an expensive laptop.

You just recommended a Macbook, which is probably the biggest waste of money on earth, and now you say 'oh if you want a windows laptop (whom are half the price of a macbook with the same specs) better build a desktop'.

long shot, but mysn.de lets you choose the specifications for your laptop. you could easily get a quadcore i7 plus 16gb RAM and a big enough SSD for under 1300€

This.

However for you, with a budget that is 400-600 euro, I would look at second hand laptops. Laptops that 2 years ago would sell for 2500 and are now on ebay for 600. (like mine: http://www.ebay.com/itm/DELL-XPS-17-L701X-i7-Q740-1-73GHz-NVIDIA-GeForce-GT-8GB-500GB-1007-/171688962328?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27f975a918 This is the exact same laptop I have, bought 3 years ago for 2200 euro )

'whom are half the price of a macbook with the same specs'. As if a macbook depends on it's specs to get good results... lol. It's NOT a waste of money and it gets the job done for A LOT of music producers out there including me so why wouldn't i recommend it?

If he's got the opportunity to build a desktop and he's tied to a strict budget, don't spend it on a laptop and build a desktop. You get better results. But hey, that's my advice.

Please don't think that I'm biased here. I work at a company as a graphic designer and web developer for the past 7 year and have worked on and off switching from an iMac to a windows PC with similar specs for the past 3 years. The iMac is very thin, super light, stay cool no matter what and are overall more convenient to work with then a regular PC. And yes, OSX has so much less bullshit then windows. If you have a preference over OSX, and have little space on your desk but are looking for a proper PC, get an iMac for sure. The laptops however are a complete disgrace. There is nothing about a Macbook that justifies its price. For its price compared to similar laptops its smaller, less powerful, fragile etc. As mentioned before in the thread; if you want OSX, get a windows laptop with the same specs, size, etc, and dual boot up OSX on it. That also gets the job done.
