its to have an understanding in making those types of sounds

besides if you copy someones sound exactly everyones going to know right of the bat

but understanding how they achieve that sound will help in developing your own from scratch

no one actually learns something from thin air they always apply something from someone else

sounds like excuses to me.

Anyone that understands synthesizer theory will be easily able to use massive to make sounds...

just sitting and moving knobs on massive is a waste of time. learn sound design, it is difficult but rewarding thing to study, especially if you ever actually want to make original sounds.

@thebears I went to college for Audio Production and Sound Engineering, I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU BEARS, its difficult to understand if you haven't been taught and you-tube tutorials only can go so far but then you sound like everyone else.... stupid ass shit.... be orig, sound like you....

@thebears: I'm curious to hear your 100% original sound m8

I'm not saying to go find one of the millions make X synth sound from X producer tutorial on youtube and slap together a shitty emulation of said artist. Trying to recreate a sound you hear is highly valuable in my opinion. It can force you to work in a way thats different from your normal workflow and open up new doors for yourself as an artist. Its just a way to explore new sounds and techniques that you can later apply to your own 'sound'. Its easy to get stuck in a rut when you get your own workflow going, trying this kind of stuff out is a great way to break away from what you'd normally do.

I found this book to be a pretty helpful resource when I was first starting to learn the basics of sound design. It def will help you a lot more in the long run to really get an understanding of the basics down too.

Dance Music Manual: Tools, Toys, and Techniques: Rick Snoman: 9780240521077: Amazon.com: Books

you can torrent a pdf of it quite easily if you're into that sort of thing ;)

I am not the one who is struggling to use VST Synthesizers, so yeah, I have nothing to prove to either of you.

I was trying to save you some time, you don't have to take my advice.

You can just spend a few days on youtube listening to other people's techniques, then you can show off your generic sound to all of us; and we can have a huge celebration together to commemorate your mediocrity.

No disrespect intended, I just don't like copycats.

peace .
