How to create a fuller sound

So I was listening to the Milo and Otis remix of Recess and am in love with the opening with the actual band playing

Now I just don't know how they got such an awesome sound at 0:09, is it to do with the layering since I can hear really cool funky drums with quite a lot of different cymbals, a funky bass and like 2 sets of brass. Along with this I can hear some cheering and some sort of arpeggiated synth very low in the mix. Not sure what else I can pick out as I can hear some stuff but not sure what it is (sounds like a flute trilling) (what am I missing?)

Is this mainly to do with the actual song or is a lot of it due to the production and engineering aspect of it?

Any help appreciated

A lot of it comes from the engineering that went into it. Drums are parallel compressed for get that full epic sound, the horns fill in the top/mid range with those cymbals. All the verb give is room and makes it feel like its "BIGGER". Mix it down properly and get rid of the muddiness in there and you can effectively do this with most mixes.

although the production on this one is neat, i never wouldve classified this as an example for a "full sound". dont know, thinking there are far more tunes out there that sound "better" or "fuller".

i normally just stereo shape a few of the tunes' elements to the side to just broaden the spectrum, throw in a few bleeps and percs to a specific side or let it roll from one side to another. other than that just a shitload of compression.
