RekAviles
Thanks in advance. I don't have proper studio speakers, only work off of headphones and the ones I have now are crap. Going for a darker techno sound and it's not as "bright" compared to the house music I normally create. Can't tell if its muddy or just my headphones needing me to boost all the mid / hi end. EDIT: link removed. Not even sure if investing in monitors will help since I'm in my living room and pretty much an open space. Looking to upgrade to better cans though. Under92
mixdown doesnt sound too bad, but i feel like theres hardly any sub bass, dont know if thats intended? btw investing in monitors always helps, my rooms and the placement of my monitors in them have always been shit, but its still million times better than headphones. once you checked your mixdowns on different speakers you learn how to properly "read" your speakers in your environment and after that it doesnt even make a difference anymore Edited July 2, 2019 by Under92 Link to comment

Figured it would compress the file down but its still close enough to get an idea of how bad or decent the mixdown is. I say mixdown but i'm far from that stage, Before I start tweaking to fix what is not there, I wanted some different ears on it. Link to comment

This does help, so I appreciate the feedback. I now where and what to focus on now. As for the monitors - All I read is having a space treated for sound or else the speakers won't matter. You would still recommend getting a decent pair of monitors ? thanks again. Link to comment

You would still recommend getting a decent pair of monitors ? yes, 100%. they also say to keep them away from walls (1,5m) and ive always had mine close to the wall (~30cm). of course the sound wont be 100% clear and perfect, but youll get to at least 95%, the last 5% will barely be noticeable. if you wanna have any references, check out this one - done with my HS80M as close to the wall as you can get, room under the roof, really bad isolation in here. 1 Link to comment
RekAviles
@Under92 Ok.. you sold me on the idea. That will be my next purchase instead of better headphones. Thais for the info. As for the audio file - I received pretty much the same feedback from others so I ended up redoing the kick. layering completely I needed to know what I needed to focus on, which wasn't really noticeable to my ears. I'll keep the new clip up for a bit, if anyone's interested in hearing the difference. Link to comment
