Lab Rat
you can automate it to decrease, I've done it before. Let me open up Ableton so I can see what problems you may be running into and tell you step by step. side note, would love to get some tips from you about melbourne sounds. So I didn't have any trouble with any of it. I went to arrangement view, dropped down the master channel, selected tempo, and dropped that into a new automation lane. Everything worked fine. One thing that tends to happen a lot with automations in Ableton that may be your problem is the like OVR or some shit, not too positive on what it's called, but the arrow pointing to the left in the top. if that is orange it will basically discount any and all automations you've done and instead play the original sound. legend! i'll have a peek at it in a little bit and see if i can get it done. of course mate! shoot me a message anytime and we'll have a chat :) i need to start posting more of my stuff around here too... Walter Wonkite
Does anybody have any idea how to apply Key Follow in any of the native Ableton Live synthesizers? Been trying to figure this out and can't seem to wrap my head around it, but I would like to experiment with this sound to try and emulate brass sounds/ weird sounding basses Link to comment
DrPhibes
Hey I am just starting to get dirty with ableton 9 in a serious way and was wondering for some say.... golden rules we could throw up in this forum. As I am a new user I am not too familiar with all the parameters and often find myself using the same methods to achieve things (ie alot of ping pongs, filter delays, delays) But i was wondering if some people have some tips or golden tricks that we could exchange. Heres one from me, Ping Pong delay in all kinds of modes is excellent for "fractalizing" sounds. and also dont underestimate the simplicity of abletons amazing "warp" function, can be used for simple fixes on seemingly complex problems(often timing related) but again, im like puuur amateur, Would love some tips on operator as I have started with serum (which is lovely), but diversity in vsts is lovlier thanks Link to comment
Shizuo
but again, im like puuur amateur, Would love some tips on operator as I have started with serum (which is lovely), but diversity in vsts is lovlier thanks Operator is a really cool FM synthesizer. If you don't know how it works, here's the quick run down. Let's say A is a sin wave, and B is a square wave. By increasing the level/output of B you are modulating the sin wave by a square wave. You can get really cool sounds with this, lots of reese basses. You can also change it so certain oscillators aren't modulated, but others are. Possibilities are endless. Serum is an additive synthesizer, although you can make it use FM algorithms as well. Very cool stuff, just do the research to understand how it all works. Link to comment
DrPhibes
thanks man. i have just started up a track with operator. lovely synth. i have another question though. when exporting your finished project, i have all audio and no midi tracs. do i have to say " mono" lock any mono channels so they dont get split? ( this is mostly my sub and snare and kick. Link to comment
